【意味】 ［ギ］phôs（光）； ［属名］Scotosia属。
Scotosia（ギ，暗黒の意）属は現在は Philereme属に統合されている。原記載文では，翅脈・翅形での類似が述べられている。前節の「光」については不詳。「♂後翅前縁は，大小あるものの広い範囲で，白っぽいか薄黄色である」に対応しているかもしれない。ちなみに，種名に「光」を持つ P. lucicolens は記載文では取り上げられておらず，由来になっているとは考えにくい。
